What is a Recovery high school

So a few years a go i asked that same question. Actually it was sort of the question that i backed into. Let me explain. One morning at our weekly men's breakfast meeting the topic turned to how can we get the steps (AAs 12 Steps) into the high schools.  Since I am the one that usually gets those questions, my response was short and direct - we cant do that do to church and state issues.   Not to be undone the leader of our little group said why don't you see what you can come up with and report back here and let us know.
Well I was pretty sure that I was going to do a quick search of the web and discovery what i already knew, there are not schools that have the 12 steps as their program.  But when I entered the query what i got was amazing! Many many references to Recovery Schools, sober schools, etc. and the link to the Association of Recovery Schools it was at this site that i begin to learn what a Recovery School was about. Belor they outline what all schools have in common.
Recovery Schools seek:
  1. To educate all available and eligible students who are in recovery from substance use disorder or co-occurring disorders such as anxiety, depression, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
  2. To meet state requirements for awarding a secondary school diploma
  3. To support students in working a strong program of recovery (https://recoveryschools.org/what-is-a-recovery-high-school. Retrieved 2017)
So, excited I returned back to my group ready to report the findings.  I shared with them what i had uncovered. They were excited and when I told them I wanted to open one they all grinned and shook their heads.  So three years later here we are....River Oak Center, the South's only Recovery School.

Dualities maybe real but I don't think we should focus on this in an exaggerated way. I don't know. Could it be I just don't like the person who introduced that concept to me? Is it because I didn't understand it then? Maybe no one can really teach these things to us. The wisdom will be given to us at a right time. When the student is ready, the teacher will come. The best things in life are really within arms reach but you have to work really hard to be in that state where it's easier for you to choose things over people.

I am beginning to feel left out already. It's hard when you are overly dependent with just one person. They say drivers always have a spare tire but I am not a driver and I don't even know what spare tires are for. Maybe if my wheel broke down, I will just leave the whole car behind and just pick it up when the situation gets better. Spare tires are only when you are in a hurry to get somewhere probably because you might be left in the dark and unable to go home safely by foot.
